Brüning  is my mother's maiden name. In
German they would write Marta Sirtozki,
geborene (Geb) Brüning. Women retain
their maiden name. This is written on all
documents for women in Germany.
The Brüning family resided in
Oberneuland-Bremen,Germany.
My Opa Franz and Oma Else Brüning
had three children. Franz,Else and Mom
is the baby. There was a step brother
Franz and step sister Marge. Opa was a
busy man!
Opa was born
Franz August Georg Heinrich Brüning
December 5,1893  in
Warnemünde-Mecklenburg,Germany.
Opa died May 16,1970 of Colon Cancer.
We don't have much information about
Opa's family except Photographs.
Oma was born Auguste Else Kasten -
November 11,1894 to Wilhelm Kasten
and Minne Kasten Geb. Walking in
Peine-Hannover,Germany. Oma died
August 21,1948 of a heart attack
There are no known photos of Oma's
parents. We do have photos of her
sister, Alwine,But not of Freide.

The Home that the family lived in was built by Oma. Her hard earned money paid for the home.
The home was built  at 28 Bremen-Oberneuland,Werfzdornpfad 11, Germany.  It still exists today
Opa was quite the business man, as mom said he could rub 2 pennies together and make a dollar.
He was into many different things.  He owned several buildings, apartments etc.  His family moved around doing what they could to make money.  In their day they
were known as Gypsies.  Opa's parents also owned a small grocery store.
In Opa's spare time he collected coins and stamps.  Mom said these collections were worth at least a million at the time he was collecting.  We don't know where
the collections ended up.
This is Tante Else, mom's sister in case you couldn't tell.
Mom and dad moved to the USA.  She was their sponsor.
Mom and Dad lived with her until they got settled.

Opa was also a ladies man,  I am trying to be polite. When Oma was pregnant with uncle Franz so was another woman.  The babies were born within days of
another. Two sons both named Franz. There are no photos of the other Franz.
Opa also had a daughter prior to his marriage to Oma, her name is Tante Marge. We met her on our trip to Germany in 1977
When mom was young she used to take checks to the bank for child support for Marge.
