This is the town our Uncle Paul Sirotzki Settled
in after WW2. He was drafted in Danzig into
the navel division during WW2.
Paul is our fathers older brother.
In 1977 we got the chance to fly to Germany
to meet him. We drove from Bremen to Koln.
He lived in an town called Knapsack. The city
is very beautiful. The links are worth checking
out. Theres is alot of information in them that I
could never have included here.
History tid bit-
In 1164 the bones of the Three Wise
Men were transferred from Milan to
Cologne, a shrine was made to house
the relics. This is the famous
Cathedral. As Cologne became one of
the largest Pilgrimage of the Middle
Ages, it was decided in 1248 to build a
new cathedral in High Gothic style. In
1322 the consecration took place, and
construction continued until 1560,
when it was halted. It was not until
1842 when construction works
resumed, and in 1880 the cathedral
was finally finished.
